"La Montesina" is a group of majorettes and musicians directed by Maestro Giacomo Montanelli. Company animated by folk instruments inspired by the craft traditions of our community. The association was formed in 1970 by the will of some Santamariammontesi. The association brings the tradition of their country around the world. In recent years it has participated in major events, including:

• Courses of the flowers of Nice, Cannes, Villafranche (France), Locarno (Switzerland) and San Remo

• Carnival of Viareggio, Fano, Putignano, Venice, Tempio, Xanthi (Greece), Vienna (Austria), Castellon de la Plana (Spain)

• Festival international Pamieres, Nice, Lille (France), Festival of the Two Worlds (Spain), Lump Appula

• Celebrations for the anniversary of the Normandy landings in Valenciennes (France).

The association has participated in television programs such as "Buona Domenica" , "25 Anni di Cronaca Italiana" , "Piacere RAI UNO" , and "Serata d'Onore" . She has appeared in several films such as: "Il Sergente Rompiglione diventa Caporale" , with Franco Franchi, "Bomber" with Bud Spencer, "Don Camillo" with Terence Hill and Andy Luotto, "Good Morning Babylon" , the Taviani brothers.

In 1981, the Vatican is given in the Gran Targa delle Nazioni and participated in the National Competition for Majorettes of Fiuggi proving a huge success.

Today "La Montesina" continues its activities with the parade, carrying around Italy and Europe the values ​​of Santa Maria a Monte we love the most: carelessness, spontaneity, joy and friendship.
